In this article I am going to share some words on the topic of how to prepare for the beep test.
Most of you have probably been through the test at least once or are going to take it in a couple of days.
This article is meant for those of you who are soon going to take the test and are looking for some great tips on how to reach your peak performance for the test.
I am going to go through how you can prepare months in advance and how to prepare for it you only have a couple of days left.
I have also made a video on this topic that you can watch here:
The first tip that I have for you is to cut back on the long distance running in order to focus more on HIIT or high intensity interval training.
This is much more beneficial when preparing for the beep test because it prepares your body for quick acceleration and a fast pace – which is the beep test in a couple of words.
This means that you want to run short sprints with a short amount of rest time in between.
The other tip that I have for you is to fuel up well in advance of the beep test. Start hours or even days (if you are really committed) before the test fuelling up and getting in as much carbohydrates as you need.
This will fill up your energy reserves and make you able to last a lot longer than if you would have ran without any fuel in your tanks.
Just make sure that you leave at least one hour since your last meal before you take the test. This way you wont have to eat the same food twice:)
Hope those quick tips helped, please contact me if you want even more tips and make sure to comment on how far YOU got on the test.
Until next time,
